Many (both then and now) put these names - Dal and Vysotsky - side by side. They met in the film by I. Kheifits "Bad Good Man", based on Chekhov's "Duel". It was an “acting doublet”, a perfect double hit in a role, an ideal interaction in a duet. Someone famously formulated: “Vysotsky is weak in his strength, and Dahl is strong in his weakness.” They were not everyday friends, they rarely communicated, they were not friends at home, but the spiritual connection between them was very strong. They understood and felt each other. Even in the movement towards death, both had some kind of devilish synchronicity. In February 1980, Dahl said: “Volodya will leave first, then I will.” In May, he spent three days with Vysotsky, “listening to his poems without interruption.” They never saw each other again.
