Name N.V. Volsky (N. Valentinov) is known to few people now. His Menshevik past and his deliverance—on the eve of Stalin’s repressions—from Soviet citizenship contributed to his oblivion. However, his memoirs were in special storage, now offered by the publishing house to a wide readership. This book, which tells about the NEP, also reproduces the atmosphere of ideological conflicts in the leadership elite, which were often based on deeply personal motives for the struggle for power. It is being published for the first time in the USSR.
