It is with great pleasure that we present to you Hugh Lofting's books about Doctor Dolittle and his beasts. Hugh Lofting is an English writer. He studied to be an engineer, traveled around the world, built railroads, but most of all he loved to write stories for children. Lofting wrote both poetry and fairy tales, but he became famous for his series about Dr. John Dolittle, a zoologist and traveler who understands the language of animals and birds. These books appeared like this: when Lofting participated in the First World War, he sent letters home from the front and, in order to cheer up his family, each time he told new stories about the good doctor and his adventures. By the way, he himself drew the illustrations, just like Antoine Saint-Exupery for the fairy tale about the Little Prince. After the war, in 1920, the first book about Doctor Dolittle was published, and his long, glorious life began. For the first time in Russia, the entire series of stories about Doctor Dolittle with illustrations by the author in a new translation by Vera Polishchuk and Alexandra Glebovskaya is being prepared for release.
