“Under the name of anthropology we mean, at the present time, the study of man in a natural-historical sense, that is, the study of modifications of the human type, as it appears to us in various ethnic groups (races, tribes, peoples), at various points on earth ball and in various historical and pre-historical eras. To some extent, anthropology can perhaps be considered a department of biology, or more precisely of zoology, if, in agreement with the majority of zoologists, starting with Linnaeus, we accept that man, by his physical nature, forms the first group at the head of the animal kingdom...” The work is given in the pre-reform alphabet .
