Soon after the Wehrmacht captured the city of Lvov (at the end of June 1941), a labor camp for Jews was created in it on Yanovskaya Street, which - if you believe the Soviet accusations in Nuremberg - was also allegedly a “death camp”, where mass massacres constantly took place. executions. As the Red Army approached, the SS ordered the mass graves to be opened again and the corpses cremated on a huge pyre. After this, the remaining bones were crushed in a “bone crusher” and buried or scattered throughout the camp. This is the official Soviet interpretation, which is based on investigations by the Extraordinary State Commission (ESC) and the testimony of surviving Jewish prisoners. The “bone crusher”, which was (allegedly) found in the camp after the Red Army entered the city, was repeatedly mentioned by the Soviet prosecutor in Nuremberg. The author was prompted to this research by three historical photographs of this bone crusher, which today, among other things, are presented on the web page of the American United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM)
