To the west of the Old World was the fabulous island of Ulthuan - the land of the elves. Thousands of years ago, when people were savages in animal skins, elven civilization flourished. From their creators, the mysterious Ancients, the elves learned the secrets of witchcraft and, when the shadow of Chaos covered Ulthuan, they managed to defend their lives and freedom. But evil found its way to the heart of Ulthuan: when Malekith, the son of Aenarion the Protector, wished to become king, a bloody war broke out, irrevocably destroying the beautiful land. This time will be called the Schism.
