The author didn't come up with anything. He simply collected the stories of hundreds of office workers and had the courage to weave them into one story. Once upon a time, all the characters in the novel were successful vice presidents, promoters, creative directors and copywriters. But in an instant, their world burned to the ground just because they all wanted more than they should have. Many of them committed suicide, some went crazy, some will be considered missing for a long time, some died from alcohol, sank to the very bottom of the Moscow slums.

But about them the author thinks as little as an atheist about the torments of hell and the pleasures of heaven. And he doesn’t care much about the fate of the book itself. Whatever one may say, truth has no chance of becoming a bestseller.
