The main character of the fairy tale by the famous Norwegian poet, writer and composer Alf Preusen is the Little Goat, who could count to ten. He is eager to put his knowledge into practice, so while walking, he assigns serial numbers to everyone he meets along the way: “One is me, two is the Calf, three is the Cow. One two Three!" The characters considered by the Kid, due to their ignorance, are offended and want to punish the Kid for his arbitrariness at all costs. The company of dissatisfied people increases with every page of the book. They run after the Little Goat together, intending to beat him (or talk some sense into him) so that in the future it will be discouraging to encroach on the personal freedom of citizens. The kid quickly runs away from his pursuers, confident in his rightness and his right to count everyone he comes across on the way. The crowd of animals running behind each time pauses to explain to the newly encountered character how much they were offended, insulted and humiliated. In the end, the Little Goat runs up onto a sailing ship standing at the pier. Everyone rushes after him. The ship rocked, everyone panicked, it seemed like just another minute and everyone would go down. And then the captain announces that the boat is designed for ten and someone must urgently count the passengers. The Little Goat's finest hour has come! He counts everyone again. As soon as it turns out that there are exactly ten of them, the rocking magically stops and the ship stops sinking. Everyone feels sincere gratitude to the Little Goat. On the last page is the expected happy ending. Little Goat's talent finds worthy use: he becomes a controller - he counts the passengers boarding the ship. The illustrations by the brilliant artist Vladimir Suteev for the book are beyond all praise! It is recommended for adults to read to children of primary preschool age, to look at excellent pictures together and for children to master basic counting. Annotation source:
