This book, after Hercules, published in 2022, continues the series “Gods and Heroes of Ancient Greece” and is dedicated to the other famous monster-slayer heroes Perseus, Bellerophon, Meleager and Theseus. The second most famous hero of Hellas after the immensely powerful Hercules was Theseus - an ordinary man, but he is fast and dexterous, skilled in fighting, careful and thoughtful, and therefore always defeats powerful robbers and terrible monsters. Envying the glory of Hercules, Theseus spends his whole life trying to surpass him in at least some way and becomes not only a monster destroyer, but also a reformer king, the founder of a state centered in Athens, new laws and holidays. Theseus was not happy in his personal life, and his marriage with Phaedra, who fell in love with his son Hippolytus from the Amazon, becomes a tragedy for everyone, which is described by many writers. The Athenian citizens, for suffering during the war caused by the abduction of Helen the Beautiful by Theseus, ostracize him, and he, rejected by people and gods, ingloriously dies by falling from a cliff.
