Heinrich Verloren is a young man living with his father, mother and younger sister far beyond the borders of large cities and those places from which some fresh news about the whole world could come. The wilderness, an oasis - in other words, it’s hard to call the small house where these people live. However, time and events in the world cannot leave even such families alone, and at one terrible moment, Heinrich’s father - Ludwig - is taken to war. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу глухомані, де живе юний Генріх Верлорен, і показує, як війна змінює не лише зовнішній світ, але й внутрішній стан людини. Історія про те, як хлопець, який жив у спокійній ідилії, змушений залишити свою родину і вирушити на фронт, викликає сильні емоції та змушує задуматися про ціну війни. Генріх, як персонаж, дуже реалістичний і зрозумілий, його переживання, страхи та надії відображають переживання багатьох молодих людей, які були втягнуті у війну. Книга не лише розповідає про війну, але й про любов, втрату, сімейні цінності та пошук свого місця в світі. Рекомендую всім, хто любить глибокі та емоційні історії, які залишають слід у серці.
