Heinrich Verloren is a young man living with his father, mother and younger sister far beyond the borders of large cities and those places from which some fresh news about the whole world could come. The wilderness, an oasis - in other words, it’s hard to call the small house where these people live. However, time and events in the world cannot leave even such families alone, and at one terrible moment, Heinrich’s father - Ludwig - is taken to war. The familiar world is changing for the young man, and suffering from the powerlessness to preserve the idyll of his former life, he follows his father to the front as a volunteer. Henry will face a huge number of trials and problems along the way, and ultimately become something he would never wanted to be.
