Two centuries ago, Barclay de Tolly, in anticipation of the war with Napoleon, created not only the first special intelligence agency - the “Expedition of Secret Affairs at the Ministry of War”, but also organized foreign intelligence forces - agents. Since then, they have always been at the forefront, ahead of the border outposts. They were called differently - military agents, correspondents, attachés. They represent our country abroad. They judge the country by them. They, if you like, are the face of Russia. Among those who served in the “corps of military diplomats” are governors, ministers, heads of the General Staff, commanders of districts and fleets, famous military leaders.
