The book by the outstanding teacher of the Russian ballet school A. Ya. Vaganova (1879-1951) sets out in detail, step by step, the basics of classical ballet dance, the so-called “Vaganova System”. Remaining deeply national in spirit and in the manner of dance movements, it absorbed both the experience of the French and Italian ballet schools, significantly revised on Russian soil, and the personal stage and pedagogical experience of the author. The text is accompanied by a large number of drawings, as well as notes. The publication is intended for students of ballet schools, dance teachers and everyone interested in the technique and history of Russian ballet art.
