Generation Kill was written in 2004 by Rolling Stone correspondent Evan Alan Wright as a chronicle of his experiences as an attached reporter with the United States Marines' 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during invasion of Iraq in 2003 (Operation Iraqi Freedom). Originally published as three publications in Rolling Stone magazine under the title "The Killer Elite". In 2008, in the USA, the HBO channel based the book on a mini series of the same name. The book tells about the first days of the Iraq War (the US invasion of Iraq in March 2003). The plot is based on the invasion of Iraq through the eyes of the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion of the US Marine Corps. The 1st Expeditionary Force entered Iraq from Kuwait and made its way to Baghdad through the center of the country - directly along Mesopotamia. As the invasion progresses, the Marines have to deal with food and ammunition shortages, incompetent command, the lack of a clear strategy and clear combat tactics and other unpleasant situations, as well as the “hardships and hardships” of military service.
