“The Defiant Ones” is an epic novel covering 45 years of Russian history at the beginning of the last century. Frightened by the sudden revolution, the Petrograd Kravtsov family moves to their dacha in Finland, hoping to wait out the turmoil there. But the Bolsheviks do not leave, the disorder in their homeland does not calm down, and 5 years later the Kravtsovs migrate to Germany in search of a better life. The Weimar Republic stuns them with hyperinflation, decadence and unemployment, but the hardworking Kravtsovs successfully arrange their destiny. Years pass, some of them become “Germanized” to such an extent that they join the Nazi movement. The young Kravtsovs meet the onset of World War II with conflicting feelings - some of them sympathize with Hitler, and some do not. At the center of the story is the figure of Sergei Kravtsov - a gifted and beautiful-hearted idealist drawn into Hitler's Wehrmacht. A geologist by profession, he was sent to the Russian North, where the Germans have been secretly ruling since 1914. Since Kaiser times, there have been naval bases on the polar islands and archipelagos, Arctic research has been conducted and ore has been mined for the benefit of the Reich. Sergei does not agree with this and begins to fight. One against Hitler and against Stalin... Author's note: The photographs on the website depict the prototypes of the heroes of my novel - the first Russian diaspora - the surviving White Guards. The meeting of EMRO members in Germany in 1941 was headed by Gen. A. A. von Lampe, legendary fighter against Soviet power. Later, a photo of this meeting was sent in the form of a postcard to all its participants. At my request, the offspring of one of my elderly friends kindly provided me with a copy of this rare document. The events described in the novel may seem incredible to some, such as the attempt to save the royal family, the V-3 flight or the assassination attempt on Stalin; there is no evidence that they did not happen, and there is no direct evidence that the following never happened. There were no witnesses to this, and until their death their voices were muffled and vague.
