This is the first novel about the great scientist Vladimir Khavkin, the discoverer of vaccines against cholera and plague, written by the famous writer David Markish, winner of many literary awards. Vladimir Khavkin wanted to change the world from a young age and began by actively participating in an underground terrorist organization in Odessa, but soon left his homeland to end up at the Pasteur Institute. There, having discovered a vaccine against cholera, he made the most important discovery of his life and was appointed State Bacteriologist of the British Crown in India.
