Mitch Albom (b. 1958) is an acclaimed American author, journalist, screenwriter, playwright, radio and television host, and musician, whose books have sold more than 39 million copies worldwide. The Five That Await You in Heaven (2003), Albom's debut novel, which spent 95 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, was translated into 35 languages, and was the basis of a 2004 TV movie of the same name, is about old man Eddie, an amusement park technician who, at the cost of his life, saved a girl during a breakdown of one of the rides. Once beyond the last line, Eddie meets the souls of five people, acquaintances and strangers: some left a noticeable mark on his fate, and he himself left a mark on the fates of others. With each of these meetings, new, unexpected meanings of his long (and, as it previously seemed to him, ordinary, insipid and worthless) earthly life are revealed to the hero, which he did not suspect about in the monotonous bustle of everyday life...
