The future writer came to literary activity unexpectedly. According to him, he always lacked something in life, and only in 2011, having taken up writing fantasy stories at the call of his soul and posting chapters of his first book in the fantasy style on the Samizdat Magazine website in January 2012, Evgeniy realized that I had found my calling. Creativity became Shchepetnov’s main hobby, ahead of his other hobbies - hunting, diving and treasure hunting. The aspiring writer’s first books were novels in the genre of heroic fantasy about people who find themselves in magical worlds, “Wandering Shadows” and “Manager”, published in 2012. They were followed by the tetralogy “Istra cycle” and the dilogy “The Beggar”. Approving reviews from readers inspired the author to continue his active literary work, and by the end of 2015, Evgeny Shchepetnov’s writing collection already included more than 35 works written in the format of large prose. Many heroes of Shchepetnov’s novels are perceived rather as negative personalities. They abuse alcohol, are partial to love affairs, are often frivolous, are not distinguished by honesty and good nature, and lead a chaotic lifestyle. Even Shchepetnov’s monks are not righteous people, but former killers or prisoners. According to the author, he tries to show people with their weaknesses and shortcomings, detailing their survival in critical conditions.
