Angelica Witherspoon, a young schoolteacher, was abandoned by her fiancé. Moreover, she is being stalked by a former colleague who turns out to be a dangerous psychopath. Exhausted by constant fear, the girl leaves Calgary. In search of shelter, she finds herself in a town on the shore of a large lake. Here she comes across an advertisement that a housekeeper is needed for a country house. Jefferson Stone, the young, attractive owner of the mansion, lives as a recluse after the death of his wife in a car accident. He refuses the girl, citing the fact that she is too young, but Angie is persistent, and the owner gives up.
