The novel by Israeli writer Batya Gur (1947–2005) is a psychological detective story, written according to the classic canons of the genre. In a kibbutz—a community where everyone knows each other and considers themselves one family—a woman is murdered, and the killer can only be a member of that family. Inspector Michael Ohayon, the author's constant hero, has to plunge into the complex, far from idyllic and even cruel world of a closed community in order to unravel the name of the criminal. Russian readers are familiar with the work of Batya Gur from the novel “Murder on Saturday Morning” (“Text”, 2007).
