The basis of the richest collection of the National Archaeological Museum in Naples is made up of archaeological finds made during the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Among the treasures kept in the museum are the sculptures “Drunken Faun”, “Wrestlers”, “Herculaneum Dancers”, “Sleeping Satyr”, “Resting Hermes”, as well as the painting from Herculaneum “Medea before killing her children”, the mosaic “Battle Alexander the Great with Darius" and many other works.
