Abstract A small Roman squadron, separated from the main fleet, finds itself in the unexplored waters of the southern ocean. This is followed by landing on a tropical island in order to replenish water and food supplies. The island was inhabited by people related to the ancient Egyptians. At first, the islanders agreed to help the newcomers, but when the Romans began to cause violence, the locals took up arms. The battle showed the complete powerlessness of the islanders in front of the battle-hardened, well-trained and armed Romans. And then the local priest resorts to witchcraft. He awakens an ancient demon sleeping in the underground catacombs of an abandoned temple. This demon is the ruler of the dead and his army is growing and increasing every minute. This is my first, so to speak, test work in the horror genre. The story is of medium size, but if necessary, all the material can be processed into a novel, adding plot devices and increasing the size of existing chapters.
