In his book, the famous German Egyptologist Alfred Wiedemann examines one of the most mysterious religions in the world. In Egypt, religion dominated all areas of life. Every household item of the Egyptians was in one way or another connected with the worship of higher powers. The ancient Egyptians believed in the immortality of the soul. Temples and tombs were painted with scenes of the eternal afterlife, hence their name - “houses of eternity.” A cross with a loop - ankh - symbolized the future life with its three attributes: peace, bliss and serenity. Echoes of various rituals of initiation into secret knowledge have reached us from Ancient Egypt. The author analyzes in detail their main components: the doctrine of immortality, the cult of the sun, the worship of animals, as well as the interpretation of dreams, magic and witchcraft.
