The reader has never held such a complete edition of the book by Sofia Fedorchenko (1880-1959). Its first part, in the form of laconic stories and reflections of Russian soldiers about war and peace, was published in 1917. Eight years later, the second part appeared, reflecting the Kerensky period. M. Gorky called the book “very valuable” and believed that it deserved a large “popular” circulation. The third part of it - about the civil war - was known only in fragments from magazine publications of 1927 and only in 1983 was published in full in the volume of “Literary Heritage”.
