In 1926, the Duke of York (the future King George VI of England), who had suffered from a stutter since childhood, turned for help to a self-taught speech therapist, an emigrant from Australia named Lionel Logue. Incredible, but true: the one whom highly intelligent medical luminaries considered an impostor and a charlatan managed to achieve success, while everyone else was forced to admit their complete impotence. He remained close to the king for many years, and what years! George VI came to the throne on the eve of the Second World War and became a living symbol of the British Empire in its fight against German fascism. Throughout his reign, from his coronation speech in 1937 to his last Christmas address to the nation and peoples of the empire in December 1951, the king spoke to his people. He spoke thanks to the fact that on his way he met “a simple man from the colonies” - Lionel Logue. The British film of the same name “The King’s Speech!” Named the best film of 2010 by the Academy and awarded an Oscar in four categories: Best Picture, Best Director (Tom Hooper), Best Original Screenplay (David Seidler) and Best Actor (Colin Firth). Lionel Logue was played by the brilliant Geoffrey Rush (“Glitter”, Oscar Award). Literary and artistic publication
