Written during the years of persecution of the Russian Orthodox Church, addressed to a believing reader, S.N. Durylin’s fiction could not be published either in Soviet or post-perestroika times. For the first time, the reader has the opportunity to get acquainted with a writer whose name and work rightfully stand next to I. Shmelev, M. Prishvin and other representatives of Russian literature of the first half of the twentieth century, whose works, for ideological reasons, saw the light only many decades later.
