Young translator Anya passionately dreams of getting married. Relations with Russian suitors do not work out at all, but she is lucky with foreign princes, one of whom, the Egyptian Said, soon proposes to the girl. Without thinking twice, Anya gets married and moves to Alexandria, but family life turns out to be far from cloudless. She learns about the existence of a rival and wants to return home, but her husband does not agree to take out their common child. An attempt to secretly leave Egypt ends in failure. Anya realizes that she has fallen into a trap and decides to take a desperate step. Will they be able to escape, or is she doomed to remain a hostage to her once loved one for many years?
