The author of the book, deputy chief designer of the Komsomolets submarine, offers his interpretation of the tragedy that took place in the Norwegian Sea on April 7, 1989. The government commission that investigated the circumstances of the death of the submarine mainly consisted of representatives of the Navy and tried to place all the blame for the accident on marine engineers. The author's opinion about the causes of the accident and death of the Komsomolets submarine, based on documentary evidence (explanatory notes from crew members, tape recordings of their interviews, extracts from the logbook, etc.), contradicts the conclusions reached by the government commission. First edition The book, published in ten thousand copies, caused a significant public outcry. The new edition of the book takes into account the wishes of readers.
