This study is devoted to the analysis of works of painting from the point of view of their historical understanding. The author’s approach is that of an inferential critic, who, using the example of paintings by artists from different eras (Picasso, Chardin and Piero della Francesca), conveys the idea that paintings, like their creators, are a product of their time and that they can only be interpreted by immersion to the environment in which they were created.
