Автор майстерно створює світ, де дракони є не лише ворогами, а й символами свободи та боротьби. Бершадь, який спочатку цурається людей, поступово відкривається для нових можливостей і почуттів, що робить його персонажа надзвичайно цікавим і багатогранним.
