The activities of Luchino Visconti (1906-1976) in cinema began in 1936, his film “The Earth Trembles” became one of the pinnacles of neorealism. In the 50s, Visconti’s works began to show motifs characteristic of his subsequent work: themes of destructive egoism of passion, conflict between individualism and humanistic moral standards. Visconti is also widely known as a theater director, he staged plays by W. Shakespeare, A.P. Chekhov, J. Cocteau and others, operas by G. Donizetti, G. Verdi, R. Strauss.
