In the book, for the first time, based on archival materials, an attempt was made to study and systematize information about the little-known Ukrainian Cossack monastery “Black Vyr” on Holy Mount Athos. Until now, there has not been a single study about this Cossack Athonite shrine. The work allows us to rediscover this center of Ukrainian spirituality and a unique monument to the presence of the Cossacks on distant Athos, which the Cossacks lovingly called “Spiritual Zaporozhye”. The book is equipped with a large number of illustrations, large reference material. The publication will be of interest to specialists in the history of Athos and the Zaporozhye Cossacks, as well as for anyone interested in church history.
