Peter Rosai (b. 1946) is one of the significant figures of modern Austrian literature, the author of more than fifteen novels: Who Was Edgar Allan? (1977), “From Here to There” (1978, Russian translation 1982), “Man & Woman” (1984, Russian translation 1994), “15,000 Souls” (1985, Russian translation 2006), “ Person" (1995), "Globalists" (2014), several collections of stories: "A Study about a World without People. - A study of a journey without a goal" (1993), travel essays: "St. Petersburg - Paris - Tokyo" (2000). The novel "Vienna Metropolis" (2005) - travel in time (second half of the 20th century), in space (Vienna, capital Austria) and in the destinies of the people inhabiting this world: the face of the city is made up of a mosaic of “ordinary” stories, appears in the interweaving of the ordinary life paths of the characters, “limited by the time limit” of their feelings, aspirations, their earthly existence.
