On the gloomy Brythunian rocks stands Amrok Castle. Its last owner, a sorcerer count, died a terrible death because of a beautiful stranger. The same stranger hires Conan and they go to the castle to read the mysterious inscription on the wall. According to the count's will, anyone who does this becomes the owner of all the count's wealth. A lot of people have already gathered there, but from the very first day the applicants are killed one by one.
