For his fruitful work in the genre of skaz, for the unique originality, freshness and richness of the deeply folk language, Ivan Ermakov (1924–1974) is rightly called a writer of the Bazhov tradition. And a special place in the creative heritage of the talented Tyumen writer is occupied by tales about soldiers, defenders of the Motherland. Having walked the fiery roads of war from the Russian plains to the very fascist lair, Ermakov well understood and felt the character of the Russian Soviet warrior - courageous, resourceful, mentally generous, always having a sharp word in reserve, a vigorous soldier's joke.
