Austria, thirties. The old watchmaker and his wife have three daughters, whom their father nicknamed “the Edelweiss sisters”: the hard-working and down-to-earth Johanna, the smart, shy Birgit, who helps her father repair watches and sees her calling in this, and the charming Lotte.
