“Construction of the wall.” This is exactly how I would like to describe my work. Each story, article, story, like individual “bricks,” builds the overall structure. This is a story about life in Afghanistan, about service, about friends, about overcoming difficulties during 1982-1984. In this case, the first attempt was made to unite the disparate parts into a single whole, to build at least “part of the wall.” Of course, this work cannot be considered a “novel” in the strict sense of the word. One can only make this assumption. We present to your attention twelve stories (“A Dozen Sketches about the War”) and three novellas (“Three Stories”), arranged in chronological order, united by common characters from among the employees of the Separate Medical Company of Kandahar, including the resident of the operating and dressing department, senior lieutenant Alexander Nevsky.
