Elena Ilyina is the pseudonym of Liya Yakovlevna Marshak, the sister of Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak. She has written many stories, poems and fairy tales for children of young and middle age, but her most famous work is the story “The Fourth Height” (1945) about Gula Koroleva, her childhood, youth and heroism during the Great Patriotic War. Gulya (Marionella) Koroleva as a child, even before the war, played several roles in films, and for one of them she received a ticket to Artek. But after school I went to study not at the theater institute, but at the institute of land reclamation, in order to bring real benefit to my people. However, she was unable to work in her specialty: the war began, and she became a medical instructor, pulling about a hundred soldiers out from under fire. Gulya died in 1942, when she was only twenty years old. The book “The Fourth Height” is a real monument to an ordinary Soviet schoolgirl who gave her life for her Motherland. For middle school age.
