This book is the first panel of a triptych entitled “The Finger of God in the White Sky.” Ravalec's goal is to present his vision of the end of the century in three novels. “Hymn to the Spaniards” tells about the life of modern Frenchmen “from the bottom”, which does not mean rabble and degenerates, simply “some are born in luxury and from the first days do not lack anything, while others have nothing to eat.” The novel “Hymn to the Spaniards” was awarded the Flor Prize in 1994, and in 1998, Ravalek directed a full-length film based on his own script, shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
