If you look back and look at the history of any state, you can always find a whole bunch of things that could have been done better. Wars lost due to stupidity, laws that turned out to be unsuccessful, officials put in the wrong place, you never know... It always seemed to me that the Nicholas era was a real era of missed opportunities. How literally in three or four decades it was possible to go from the country that took Paris to the Paris (that's a joke) treaty as the result of the Crimean War. This book is my view of what could be corrected.
