The monograph by the famous German historian Lyudmila Nikolaevna Brovko presents a broad picture of the activities of Christian churches in Germany during the years of the fascist dictatorship (1933-1945). The study focuses on the activities of churches of the Catholic and Protestant faiths in all its diversity and contradictions, in all the complexity of its relationship with the Nazi regime. The line of relationship with the Hitlerite dictatorship is one of the central ones in the monograph. The internal church situation, confessional origins (historical and ideological), basic theological concepts are also studied in detail, portraits of famous church figures and theologians are given. The book reflects the ideological and practical confrontation between Christian and anti-Christian (pro-Nazi) forces in society and the church, and poses the problem of Christian resistance. A general picture is given of the state of Christian churches and the Christian community during the Second World War, both in Germany (from general support for the war unleashed by Hitler to the work of Christians underground - the Kreisau circle) and outside it (the activities of the anti-fascist National Committee "Free Germany").< /p>
