Andy Rapace walked out of prison a free man, with keys, an empty cigarette case, and twenty-two dollars and change in his pockets. The prison gates closed behind him, and a gust of wind blew up the flaps of the light spring coat in which he had been arrested the last time. The November wind in New York was damp, disgusting and completely unwelcoming. But it was the wind of freedom, and now Andy literally felt it on his skin.
