The new book in the “Russian Chansonniers” series tells about the actor and verse singer Boris Sichkin (1922–2002). The role of Buba Kastorsky in the film “The Elusive Avengers” brought him all-Union fame and recognition. Boris Mikhailovich Sichkin lived an interesting life full of drama. But the maestro managed to do everything: work in cinema, write books, record records, play in the theater... His motto was a line from Buba Kastorsky’s couplets: “I never cry!” The book includes first-person stories by Boris Sichkin, as well as memoirs relatives, colleagues and friends: son Emelyan, composer Alexander Zhurbin, actor Viktor Kosykh, chansonnier Willy Tokarev and Mikhail Shufutinsky, poetess Tatyana Lebedinskaya, writers Sergei Dovlatov and Alexander Polovets, photographer Leonid Babushkin and others. The publication is illustrated by more than a hundred previously unpublished photographs.
