The books of the English poet and prose writer Peter Ackroyd (b. 1949) are popular all over the world. He is the author of more than four dozen books. Biographies occupy a significant place in his work, and one of the writer’s favorite heroes is the great Isaac Newton, a thinker, physicist, astronomer and mathematician, whose contribution to natural science simply cannot be overestimated. “I’m trying to come up with a new kind of biography, to look at history from a different angle,” Ackroyd admitted in one of his interviews.
