This book is about the people who created the Encyclopedia of Sciences, Arts and Crafts. The creators of the Encyclopedia, led by Denis Diderot, belonged to a glorious galaxy of enlighteners - writers and philosophers of the 18th century who fought the feudal system, absolute monarchy and the Catholic Church in the name of the emerging bourgeois society. The author of the book tells about the life and work of the leading encyclopedists and how, having overcome numerous obstacles, they completed the work that ideologically prepared the Great French Bourgeois Revolution of 1789–1794. The book “The Heirs of Mr. Chambers” chronologically precedes the story by A. Lewandowski “The Great Dreamers” , published by the Children's Literature publishing house in 1973.
