Star Light is a comfortable residential complex in one of the Middle Districts of Radovar. Fifty-six above-ground and eleven underground floors, eight thousand residents; inside there is a school, a cinema, shops - everything you need for a happy life. The parents of fourteen-year-old Jona Berger work hard at the factory of the ComView corporation. Very little is required of children: get good grades and be useful to their neighbors. Then the number of points on the family account will regularly grow, and it will be possible to move to several floors higher. And if you’re lucky, move to the Upper Districts, where, according to rumors, you are allowed to go outside freely... For this, it’s probably worth giving up the right to have pets and indoor plants. And come to terms with the fact that grandma will be taken to the plus house - perhaps she will really be better off there. Or not? Wanting to save her grandmother, Yona begins to ask uncomfortable questions and protest against the established rules. Meeting Kilian and Svora changes her life. Dutch writer Marlus Moorshuis (born 1970) made her debut as a children's writer in 2015 with The Emperor's Cook. She prefers to talk to the reader about current topics: climate change, social experiments, total control and the fight for freedom. The dystopian novel “Shadows of Radovar” will be reminiscent of the best examples of the genre and will no doubt appeal to fans of the TV series “Black Mirror.”
