The Dictionary of American History contains under one cover brief data on the history of the United States for the period from the founding of English settlements to the end of the First World War. It reflects the most important events of that time; biographies of famous figures; concepts characterizing the features of the formation and development of the American state. Since both authors and readers look at America from the outside, it was important to show it in relations with the outside world, to determine the place of the United States in the community of nations. Therefore, special attention is paid to the history of foreign policy, and in particular Russian-American relations. The authors tried to detect the “Russian trace” wherever possible. This is the first time such a publication has been published in Russian.
The dictionary contains more than 1,450 entries.
