During the reburial of the remains of his grandfather, who disappeared during the Great Patriotic War and was found seventy years later, the main character accidentally dies from a wartime grenade exploding. By chance, a person finds himself in the past, in the distant and difficult forty-first. Appearing in the trenches of the battalion where his grandfather fought, Sergei decides to do everything so that his grandfather lives or at least does not go missing. Standing shoulder to shoulder with his ancestors, Sergei is quickly drawn into the hardships of war and becomes the commander of a reconnaissance platoon. Thanks to some luck and the Russian “maybe”, the guy completes the tasks perfectly. Noticing a strange fighter, the command takes note of him, and a representative of Headquarters is interested in Sergei, and then the fun begins.
