Nero Wolfe, an avid orchid collector, a great gourmet, a beer lover and a great detective, almost never leaves the house. He unravels all the crimes based on the facts collected by Archie Goodwin, his charming, ironic assistant with an excellent memory. Multimillionaire Otis Jarrell is sure that his daughter-in-law is selling company secrets to competitors, and to prove her guilt, he decides to hire Nero Wolfe. And so, to collect incriminating evidence, Archie Goodwin, under the guise of a new secretary, settles in Jarrell’s house. And two days later the previous secretary is killed, and Archie finds himself in the thick of things. The police naturally have a question: how did Wolfe and Goodwin know about the murder in advance?
