But for people of antiquity and the Middle Ages they were not something unique, something that happened only once in the observable historical period. On the contrary, every person in his life, at least once, has encountered a fulfilled prophecy or a rare natural anomaly. The most impressive cases received wide publicity, their descriptions were included in many religious and literary monuments, and on the basis of these descriptions special genres were formed: oneirocriticism, paradoxography, special literature on divination methods, etc. All these genres were firmly connected with traditional folk wisdom coming from time immemorial.
