In the undeclared 40-year “cold war” in the seas and oceans, dozens of Soviet submarines carried out hundreds of trips to specified areas of the World Ocean. The crews were subjected to significant physical and moral overload, and the equipment could not always withstand it. In the context of a tight schedule of voyages, there were cases of sending ships with malfunctions to sea, with crews who had not undergone proper training... As a rule, the commanders and superiors who remained on shore got away with it. But sometimes it ended badly or completely badly for both the ship and the crew... and the commanders who sent them to a deliberate risk subjected the survivors to military “justice.” The author of the book is Hero of the Soviet Union, submariner, Vice Admiral E. D. Chernov says in his documentary story about duty, courage, conscience and responsibility, about the disastrous consequences of impunity and careerism brought to the Soviet Navy in the late 80s of the last century.
